My sister-in-law gave me a bunch of coffee filters a while back thinking I could do something fun with them. We were able to do some cute butterflies with some of the coffee filters. They also worked great as angel wings. I enjoyed making the tie dye look so much that I thought it would be fun to make some art decor for Valentine’s Day. The great thing about this craft is that all ages are very capable of participating.
The first step is to fold your coffee filters (affiliate link) in half. I cut the hearts for Corban. I drew a line for Kenzie to be able to cut. Abby was able to learn to draw and cut her own.
The next step is to color with markers (affiliate link). We chose reds and pinks, and they were just able to color on the coffee filter hearts as much as they want.
The final step is to let the kids drip water onto the hearts. I put down a plate and then a paper towel underneath to soak up some of the water. As the water drips, the ink spreads and creates a really fun and beautiful tie dye look.
